In an era where environmental conservation is not just a choice but a necessity, Quality Home Products of Texas stands at the forefront of promoting sustainable living by offering Kohler Home Backup Generators. This commitment gains even more significance in the wake of the recent announcement from Kohler Co., a name synonymous with innovation and sustainability for over 150 years.
Recently, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has recognized Kohler Co.’s pioneering efforts towards decarbonization by selecting it for award negotiations up to $51.2 million. This funding aims to demonstrate commercial-scale decarbonization solutions at Kohler’s largest manufacturing plant in North America, located in Casa Grande, Arizona. The project, one among 33 across the U.S., is set to be a beacon of net-zero transition in energy-intensive industries.
This initiative is part of Kohler’s broader commitment to achieving Net Zero GHG emissions across scopes 1 and 2 by 2035. “This funding will allow us to accelerate our Net Zero GHG commitment,” says Laura Kohler, Chief Sustainable Living Officer, highlighting the project’s dual benefits of environmental impact and community development through the creation of 400 new full-time jobs.
Kohler’s ambitious Electric Boiler & Microgrid project includes replacing natural gas boilers with electric ones, installing a 21MW solar array microgrid, utilizing long-duration energy storage (LDES) batteries, and setting up 12MW of HVO-capable KOHLER industrial backup generators. This comprehensive approach not only aims to reduce CO2e emissions by at least 90% but also enhances the facility’s reliance on renewable energy, marking a significant step towards sustainable manufacturing practices.
The synergy within Kohler Energy businesses—encompassing Power Systems, Clarke Energy, and Heila Technologies—underscores a unified effort to leverage clean energy sources. Brian Melka, Group President – Kohler Energy, emphasizes, “As governments, businesses, and individuals look for ways to reduce their carbon footprint, we’re likewise pursuing ways to positively contribute to decarbonization through new technologies and advanced engineering.”
Further extending its commitment to environmental stewardship, Kohler has also been actively involved in water restoration efforts, partnering with various organizations to transition high water use crops to low water use variants. This initiative is aimed at alleviating water stress on local aquifers, demonstrating Kohler’s dedication to not only being a responsible user of water but also contributing to the sustainability of local water resources.
For Quality Home Products of Texas, the partnership with Kohler is more than just a business collaboration; it’s a shared vision for a sustainable future. By offering Kohler Home Backup Generators, Quality Home Products of Texas not only ensures that homes remain powered during outages but also supports the transition towards cleaner, renewable energy sources. This initiative is a testament to both companies’ commitment to environmental sustainability and their role in paving the way for a greener tomorrow.
